Yesterday I began (and almost finished!) sorting through the girls' clothes. It is well past time for shorts and tanks and sleeveless onesies to make their way out of closets and into boxes! It was fun to revisit Lydia's clothes from two years ago and get them laundered and put into Lauren's room. I have also found that in that short period of time, some of my taste has changed! Oh well. I hope I don't feel this way every time Lauren moves up to Lydia's clothes =)
Lydia loved helping me sort. She also decided to redress herself using several interesting items from various piles. She is getting more independent by the week. Every day I hear, "I do it myself Mom." Just a few weeks ago she was saying, "Me do it!" so we have at least progressed closer to correct speech!
the end result: a summer skirt that finally fits, newborn hospital cap, pink socks andMom's slippers (or flippers, as she calls them)

She sure makes a cute fashionista!!! I love the flippers. Ooops, I meant slippers.
I recently redid all of my boys' clothing too. Now I just need to figure out were to put it all. There are only 2 dressers in this house. I need to be creative.
I seem to be in good company. The clothes parade is on my list for this week as well!
I LOVE the first picture! Such style! You should make sure to keep that one to bring out when she's 17.
How cute! Apparently, I was much the same way about doing it myself which made my sister's tasks that much more difficult when they tried to make me look slightly more presentable. :) How cute though! She looks like she was having fun.
Those are CUTE pictures!
I have been going through my childrens' clothing as well. Thank goodness for hand-me-downs from a cousin who had a LOT of very nice things! :-)
Don't you love the independence... especially when you are in a hurry. :) She's adorable! It took me almost a week to get the boys, mine and Andy's clothes switched out.
I love your Lydia stories. I'm enjoying Greta's baby time but I'm also looking forward to her growing up and doing all those cute things.
Greta has so many clothes I've started putting them away in a rubbermaid tote as soon she outgrows them or they are inappropriate for the weather. Otherwise, I wouldn't have enough room for her new stuff.
Just out of curiosity, how have your taste changed since Lydia?
Wow - it sounds like we've all been going through closets and getting the appropriate seasons' clothes ready to wear.
Beth you are so right about her independence when I am "in a hurry." I feel like I'm always trying to hurry and to hurry her and I have to remind myself to slow down and let her learn things herself. I also don't want to give my children the idea that everything always has to be "perfect" or "just so" and therefore Mommy has to do it because Mommy can do it best. Does that make sense?
Kelley - I do still love to see Lydia's old clothes on Lauren, don't get me wrong. However, as those of us who shop for little girls know, it is HARD to find things that aren't pink pink pink with flowers, hearts, bows etc etc!! I'm also not really into denim or other clothes that are "adorned" with lots of embroidery or emblems. I tend to prefer plainer things which aren't always easy to come by, especially when you're trying not to break the bank!! It seems you're kind of at the mercy of whatever is "in" even if it isn't your favorite color. It is hard to find things in red, navy or light blue for a girl...
(OK maybe this should have been another post!)
Oh I understand completely. Caleb is potty training right now. I have to slow down and remember that he's not interupting my schedule on purpose when he has to go to the bathroom as we are walking out the door. lol
I know what you mean about finding stuff that isn't pink although I've had a hard time finding stuff that isn't purple. That's the color for Carters fall line and I got a ton of it. My mom did a really good job finding Greta cute girly stuff to wear that wasn't all pink or purple. I love putting her in those outfits. I also agree about the embroidered jeans. I was looking for a pair of jeans for her and ended up getting them at old navy cause everywhere else they were "designer" looking. That being said, she does have a pair of jeans with red hearts all over them which I really like and it allows her to wear other colors like Red!
